As part of Sauk Rapids-Rice High School's commitment to a comprehensive science curriculum, Crystal Structures installed a state-of-the-art, architectural-grade lean-to greenhouse. This 21' x 15' controlled environment classroom allows 1,200 students to conduct year-round plant growth experiments, gaining practical scientific skills.The greenhouse fosters interdisciplinary learning across biology, environmental science, physics, and chemistry. By manipulating factors like light and humidity, students can observe cause-and-effect relationships firsthand. They learn the scientific method through hands-on hypothesis testing, data gathering, and results interpretation.This living laboratory also instills environmental appreciation in students by demonstrating sustainable resource management. It is a testament to the school's innovative educational spaces that develop well-rounded, responsible students equipped for STEM careers. The First United Methodist Church in Abilene, TX has an impressive glass atrium designed by Crystal Structures bridging between the main 1965 church and a modern activity center. Soaring 33' high, the atrium features Contemporary architecture with ample natural light - perfect for church gatherings. Sadly the magnificent structure suffered damage in a 2014 hailstorm, but I wanted to showcase the atrium pre-storm when it exemplified exceptional architectural design and engineering by Crystal Structures. Despite the destruction inflicted across Abilene, images of the atrium in its prime demonstrate the grace, style, and functionality Crystal Structures brought to the project.https://lnkd.in/guEcajnz

When West Des Moines Fire Station #17 wanted to renovate its 1991 building, they called on Crystal Structures to install custom skylights.The station now features an eye-catching, approximately 15-foot square pyramid skylight above the entrance plus three new 6-foot by 6-foot pyramid skylights in other areas.These attractive, functional skylights flood previously dreary spaces with ample natural light. Crystal Structures contributed to uplifting the workplace for the 23 on-call firefighters and leadership who protect this thriving Iowa suburb around the clock.Though not Crystal Structure's largest project, enhancing civic structures like Fire Station #17 benefits the whole West Des Moines community. The custom skylights improved aesthetics, functionality, and morale in the firehouse. Another shipment of glass arrives! With all the orders we're manufacturing, our shipping and receiving departments are always busy. Dual-pane, insulated glass these days is much more efficient at keeping homes and offices comfortable with better insulating factors and UV blocking. By the way, those larger pieces of insulated glass weigh about 90 lbs each.
