In Bread, Amsterdam West: the Japanese hotspot on the Overtoom >> (2024)

Once you’ve tried a sando, you’ll be hooked. That’s what the owners of In Bread Amsterdam thought, too, the brand-new hotspot with Japanese influences on Overtoom street. A sando is a Japanese sandwich made on light, fluffy white bread with carefully selected fillings. It’s refreshing, has a hint of sourness, and is always crunchy: you can instantly taste that it’s a perfect combination. This proves once again that a sandwich for dinner is a fantastic idea. Get to know In Bread.

IN BREAD Amsterdam

In Bread (Amsterdam-West) was anything but a preconceived plan. However, setting up a studio kitchen and creating online cooking videos were part of the plans for the British duo John Sindall and Andrew Barsoum. Since many people save cooking videos but never actually watch them again, let alone recreate the recipes, they decided to transform it into a place where you can enjoy Instagram-worthy food without the need to follow complicated instructional videos.

Menu In Bread

The menu of In Bread is simple yet unconventional. They offer small dishes, with the deep-fried 24hr potato being an absolute standout. It’s a typical dish that people love to eat (it can’t get any crunchier than this), but they don’t want to make it themselves. The sandos – typical Japanese sandwiches – are also deserving of praise. Having a sandwich for dinner might take some getting used to, but once you’ve tasted the sandos, you’ll realize they mean business. For example, a single sandwich can contain up to 150 grams of pork. That’s also where the name comes from: “in bread,” because a complete meal can be packed between the slices of bread.

The co*cktails are equally impressive and crafted with the utmost care. They are not only standalone masterpieces but also designed to keep people lingering. The DJ set adds an extra touch to the experience. If you plan to stay for just one drink, go for the Are You Yolking? co*cktail. According to the creators, it tastes like lemon meringue pie but in liquid form and with alcohol. And believe us: that’s a compelling reason to stay longer and enjoy the unique offerings at In Bread.
