I notice still no answer as to where you got any evidence that this actually happened? Lots of things get posted online that have no or little truth in them.

I am with you on this. Easy to make a claim, with no mention of where this information came from, and then leave to others to discuss.

I notice that alleged spending on a holiday caused J&D outrage, but visits to sex workers was greeted with acceptance and envy.

J&D, just put up the reference for this claim, and let others see the evidence.

Surprisingly, from the experience of one of our friends with NDIS, much of the problem is with the approved providers of the services.

I also made a claim and stated where the information came from so i suggest you go back and read my post. Whether you both believe or disbelieve what my wife and I were told is your choice but I have no reason the believe we were lied to. The mother and son tagged along with us on a trip for 5 weeks.

As for Greg 1, it is great to see that the system is working for him and his wife and I most certainly hope that it continues to do so. He has outlined some of the shortcomings that they have been able to get around but nobody should really have to do that and no one should have to wait up to 12 months for any approval.

Youll notice I hadnt questioned your comments TimTim. It may be that your case is accurate, as it was told direct to you, but it doesnt mean all alleged cases are true.

Not all people are reliable with the truth or accuracy of the actual events, so a confirmation that the other event was first hand information may give it a bit more credence.

We are somewhat worried by some of the proposed changes to the scheme. For one, that all providers must be registered as in our experience, if they become registered their fees go up very exponentially. This then makes it much more difficult to obtain basic services at reasonable rates to make sure the allocated funds last the time frame.Lyn is a very careful money manager and so each time she comes up for reassessment she tends to have funds left over, so they then tend to reduce her next allocation. Of course this doesn't encourage people to be careful with taxpayer money. Instead it causes people to go out and spend like crazy to ensure they g et the same or more funding for the next three years. Whatever is left should just be rolled over into the next period.Things that take up to 12 months are usually equipment and involves assessments by occupational therapists and the like and the whole process is a bit glacial. But having said that, Lyn has had some excellent equipment from the NDIS such as her current carbon fibre wheelchair worth $7000. Paras as they age have massive issues with their shoulders wearing out and the very lightweight chair, 9kgs all up, makes it so much easier for her to push and for me with my bad back to load in the car. We are very grateful for those sorts of things as they make both our lives easier. We are now pretty well equipped so the NDIS really only pay for maintenance on that equipment these days.As you can guess we are big fans of the scheme. But we would like to see those rorting the scheme brought to book and we know many who are, as these people are risking bring the whole thing down as it will become unsustainable.

My experience in the 2000s with dying parents for the last few weeks. Very difficult to get any care from the government, which we had to pay for at $70 per hour if we could actually get anyone.

Ended up get our own help cash basis. About $7,000 per week.

We had hospital bed, oxygen concentrator etc at home. Great family doctor, no complaints there.

Dying at home costs a fortune, but it is a privilege that my sister & I will never forget, for the best of reasons. A privilege in so many ways.
